[Season 4} Episode 9: Pinkie Apple Pie... yum

HELLOOO EVERYBODY and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review, we learn what it truly means to be family. However, there are a FEW rules to go over before we can get started. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it EVER, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if ANY of you notice ANY mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, please don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Pinkie Apple Pie is the 9th episode of season 4 and the 74th episode overall. Written by Natasha Levinger, the episode follows Pinkie's adventures with the apple clan. After discovering a connection between her family and the Apple clan Pinkie is convinced she and Applejack are related. Not fully convinced herself Aj decides to go on a family road trip to visit great aunt Goldie Delicious to find out for sure. But when things take a turn for the worst the trip evolves from a peaceful adventure to a full on family war. Will the group survive long enough to find their answers?

Alright, I'm convinced fans have been pulling my hoof about this season. Much like the past episodes, this one was a wonderful presentation of its main lesson as well as an incredible and entertaining adventure. On top of that we also got quite a catchy tune in the form of Apples to the Core. Really the entire episode was well executed in writing, storyboard, and much more. Kinda makes you wonder why so many people hate season 4.

I will admit that this episodes lesson by far was the most heartwarming. Family isn't perfect. Sometimes they fight which can lead to bigger family disputes and, more than anything, can drive a family apart. But at the end of the day family can also be the best of friends. Whether related by blood or bonds, they will always be there when you need them most and rarely will they expect anything in return. And most of all a real family isn't afraid to share the blame when things go wrong.

As far as problems go there honestly weren't any issues to this episode. The musical number was well placed, the story was relatable, and the lesson was nicely reflected in the storyboard. Overall, I'd say this episode was perfect. Which is odd given my last 3 season reviews.

Alright! This concludes my review of Pinkie Apple Pie. To summarize, I really had fun with this episode and I felt fully entertained where needed. I highly recommend this episode just for the pure fact it's a nice source for family counseling. I give this episode a 10 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did.
