My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic issue 29
HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I'm Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review we lace up our boots and step in the squared circle for an old - fashioned smackdown. Before we begin, let's review the rules. Firstly, all contents within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?
MLP: FIM issue 29 brings together veteran writer Ted Anderson and fist time artist Jay Fosgitt for a look at Equestrias interesting sports entertainment industry. Unlike more recent wrestling related cartoon specials however WWE does not have a mark here. Thank Luna. The last thing we need is Vince McMahon ponified.
Unlike its predecessors the art style for this issue took a much different turn. Rather than the dark tones of the past this issue leans towards a more cartoonish impression. The characters appear more scaled down and chibified.Similar to cartoons like Flinstones Kids and A Pup Named Scooby Doo.
The lesson in this is relatable to all familial relationships. Never hold onto a grudge. It can ruin a great bond with somepony close. Cheerilee wholeheartedly believed she and her twin sister Cherry were worlds apart. It takes stepping into the other persons shoes to learn just how much you have in common.
There wasn't much anything about this comic. Though throughout it, the rest of the mane 6 seemed to just fade into the back. Would have been nice to see the likes Pinkie and Rainbow in the ring. And the match transitions seemed way too short for my taste. Aside from that it was a fun read.
Alright! This concludes my review of Ponymania XXIX. Definitely worth the read for wresting fans. I highly recommend it. I give issue 29 an 8 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed this review.
