Cultures Thoughts: The big Finale
Greetings to all my readers. I am Culture Shock, your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Now, originally I was supposed to be talkign about the topic of bullying in and out of the mlp fandom, and I still will. However, I felt that with the current buzz going around I felt it important to cover this topic while I still could. Hence the reason I skipped my usual intro. As a reminder, this will all be based on opinion rather than complete fact so please don't feel you aren't entitled to your own interpretation. This is merely my own thoughts on what's coming and what might come next. Now sit back and relax while we go over the biggest topic in MLP today. The series finale of Friendship is Magic.
First of all, I wanted to cover the biggest part. As we now, 2019 has been in full circle and with it comes the start of season 9 of Friendship is magic. So far, the show's managed to stretch an mpressive length with 8 seasons already finished. As well its IDW comic series. Unfortunately, like with most things, the show must come to an end. With the recent confirmation fans are already up in arms after hearing the news about season 9 being FiM's official finale. And frankly, it's kind of annoying.
Don't get me wrong. I know this is normally how people when they're favorite show ends. Being an otaku and a yugioh fan myself, I know the feeling of when your favorite gen reaches its finale and your left wanting more. Somes fans usually resort to petitioning for more seasons while others, myself included, just choose to take things how they are.
The problem with petitioning for a new, regardless of the signature count, you're not always guaranteed the producers will see it or let alone actually agree. Making a popular television show is hard and, in most cases, can get a little dry over so many seasons. Usually because the writers run low on creative ideas for episodes. Which is why most shows end when they do.
Next up, of course, are the rumors circling about the fandom ending after the finae. Which is just that. Rumors. Just cuz a series ends it doesn't mean the fandom ends with it. To use an example, Naruto was a long running anime that ran from 2002 - 2017 and spawned two incarnations. The original and it's second season Naruto: Shippuden. Of course the show continues in it's spin - off, Boruto, but the original series ended and impressive 3 years after the original manga. Yet even after the show ended fans still stuck around for the nostalgia nd fan content to come from it. Similar to how MLP will continue.
Even if Friendship is Magic is officially ending this season the show will still be there. Fans, both new and old, can still go back and watch their favorite episode or relive their favorite moment. At the same time, fans will continue to pump out new and creative content of their own like fics, songs, comics, art, and animations. Which in turn helps the fandom grow little by little.
Last, but not least, there's the matter of what comes next. And, aside from rimors and "leaked" images, nothings been set in stone as of yet. We do know there's going to be a 3d animated film coming sometime after the season ends. Which, as Hasbro has stated, will not be conected to their recent film. While it'd be nice to get another generation, it'd be more nicer to slow down and enjoy things while we still have them. Rushing only leads to bad things in the end, specifically major disappointment.
In conclusin, while it's sad things re ending I'm reminded of an old quote. Where one door may close a new door opens. One which can lead to newere and bigger things for our happy little community. I may not know what's around the corner, nor do I have eny clue of what comes next. What I do know is this. MLP as a fandom will continue to grow. Both as a community and a family. iving under the same three words we started with. Friendship is Magic.
Thanks again for reading. I'm Culture Shock, your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond, reminding you to KEEP CALM AND BRONY ON!! PEACE!!
