Cultures Fandom Address
Salutations readers and bronies alike. Welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews. Now, I know I usually start these things off with some cheerful introduction and a few rules of the blog. But, as this is not my typical material review or average general discussion I felt it necessary to keep things to the point. For those of you prone to emotional outbursts I implore you to have some tissues at the ready for today's topic might be a bit hard for some to accept given the current state of the fandom. That in mind here goes.
So with the recent departure of Baltimore's esteemed Bronycon convention fans of MLP have been getting in gear for the upcoming finale of the series which was recently revealed in a trailer during the event. Now how fans in attendance reacted is up to the attendees and con staff. But, speaking from a social media standpoint, fans still aren't ready to let go.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has been a staple in many peoples lives for the past 9 years it's ran. Whether it was it's quirky and often relatable characters, it's whimsical storyline, or the life lessons one could learn from it. Fans alike had fallen deeply in love with the show. And much like those of the previous gens, they were left demanding more.
Now, I don't personally know how show writing works, but I do know is that eventually creative ideas run dry. And when that happens it's usally time to hire new writers or time to end the show. Which as hard as it may be to accept, I feel like DHX and Hasbro might be making a smart choice here.
Now before I get dogged by hate mail and comments telling me I suck hear me out. At some point the show reached such a high pinnacle in production that there was nowhere else to go with it. Eventually stories began to repeat and some plans were either abandoned or just plain halfway done. And a lot of content, like character development and naming, just came out sour. From a moral standpoint these should have been signs that the show wasn't gonna have long left.
Spoken as a fan of multiple anime's, I know how tough it can be acknowledging that the end has come. It can make you feel empty inside. Like a large part of you is missing. You might think that it'll never come back, but the truth is it never left.
The fact of the matter is this. Yes the canon is ending and no there's no telling what'll happen from here on, but that doesn't mean it's the end of the world. We as a fandom have the power to take MLPFIM to heights far beyond the norm and continue to create content for generations to come. Not to mention the episodes are still there to go back to and reminisce over your favorite moments.
With all that being said I leave you with my final words. Don't stop believing and never give up. Bronies will live long a far. And most of all always remember to KEEP CALM AND BRONY ON!!! PEACE!!
