My Little Pony Equestria Girls the movie

HELLOOO EVERYBODY and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review, we're traveling across dimension on a race for the crown against some tough competition. However, there ARE a few rules to go over before we can get started. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it EVER, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if ANY of you notice ANY mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, please don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

My Little Pony Equestria Girls is an animated feature film featuring the shows original cast alongside some new faces. Written by Meghan McCarthy, this marked the first full length feature film for MLP's 4th generation, as well as the start of a new sub franchise based around the EQG toy line. After having her element of magic stolen by Celestias former student, Sunset Shimmer, it's up to Twilight to get it back. To do so, she has to travel to a whole new world. Will she manage to fit in and save her crown? Or will this new world prove to be more than she can handle?

Well, who would've guessed that after 3 seasons we'd finally get to the acclaimed Equestria Girls films. And honestly, I'm surprised I missed so much the first time. The opening track was a nice touch as well as a handful of other songs from the movies soundtrack. As for the storyline I feel a lot of it is just copy and pasted from previous seasons. Like Twilight's first introduction to her friends. Though at the same time I'm surprised they managed to reflect the cultural diversity of an entire nation in social structure of a single school. though this mainly due to the whole film being centered around just one location rather than varying venues.

Personally, the strongest lesson you can possibly take from this is that the magic of friendship exists in the most unlikeliest of places. Even when you think it's impossible a single friend can make even the toughest situation a breeze. It just takes a lot of belief and the right elements to make that spark glow as bright as the daylight sun.

Aside from its positive traits the film does suffer from overdone plot devices and recycled ideas. Mostly things like the evil minions, the whole friendship fixes everything, as well as some unnoticed spoilers dropped throughout the film. Overall though, I think it makes for a pretty decent start to an interesting sub franchise. Even if it's purely meant to push merchandise. Here's hoping things get even better in the next film.

Alright! This concludes my review of My little Pony Equestria Girls. All in all, an okay movie with some positives and room to improve. I highly recommend it to any new fans. I give this film 7.5 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review?
