[Season 3] Episode 11: Just for Sidekicks... and nopony else

HELLOOO EVERYBODY and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review, we learn how sometimes our appetites can get in the way of what's best for business. However, there are a few rules to go over before we can get started. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it EVER, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if ANY of you notice ANY mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, please don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Just for Sidekicks is the 11th episode of season 3 and the 63rd episode overall. Written by Corey Powell, this episode is actually a side story to it's follow up episode entitled Games Ponies Play. While stressing over his gem shortage Spike is suddenly tasked with looking after Fluttershy's pet rabbit, Angel Bunny, while she and the mane 6 are in the Crystal Empire. Which gives the young drake a devious plan to get more gems for his precious cake. But when Spikes plans lead to a cross county train ride he soon learns he might have bitten off more than he can chew. Will Spike manage to solve his problem? Or will his greed be his undoing?

Well, I'm just going to flat out say it. This episode was nothing more than Secret of My Excess all over again. The only difference being less giant dragons and more pony pet catastrophes. That and it went down as well as a bowl of Ma Pie's rock soup and cement biscuits. Yet again another Spike episode for the disappointment pile.

Frankly, I feel like the moral of this episode is short and sweet. Don't make a promise you can't keep. No amount of money in the world is worth living a lie. Always be honest with others and never do things just for the money. It's never worth it in the end and can lead to nothing but trouble.

In conclusion, the episode was nothing more than a train ride to disaster in the first act. As well as a one way ticket to indigestion. The moral was obvious and the whole plot was just painful to swallow. Which, as it stands, doesn't paint a pretty picture for this season. Here's hoping these last few episodes can pull things out of the fire. Before season 3 gets burned.

-Alright! This concludes my review of Just for Sidekicks. Not even worth beating around the bush nor is it worth recommending to anyone. I give this episode a 4 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review? Leave it in the comments section down below.
