My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic issues 9 & 10

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today we'll be reviewing a slice of life adventure starring that big red playcolt, Big Macintosh. Before we continue let me lay out the ground rules. Firstly, all content in this blog is the express opinion of its author. It does not nor should it ever reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said let's move on, shall we?

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic issues 9 & 10. Also known as " Zen and the Art of Gazebo Repair. A two part comedic / slice - of - life about the daily life of Aj's older brother, Big Mac. It follows Mac in his quest to get new nails for the old Apple family gazebo. Along his journey he encounters quite a few hilarious roadblocks as he manuevers through the towns lively Summer Wrap-up Festival. Most of which are due to the CMC's usual antics.

My favorite part about this comic has got to be Luna's shirt. Artist Andy Price did an amazing job capturing the princesses youthful spirit as well as the comics general light-hearted nature. Not to mention Luna is now canon as best pony. Suck on that Celestia fans.

Speaking of characters. Both issues managed to feature quite a list of fan favorites from both the main and background casts. Though there wasn't quite as many cultural references the cast list more than makes up for it.

The moral of these issues is both personal and important. Don't focus too much on a single goal. Otherwise you may end falling just short of it. Loosen up and live a little. All work and no play makes Big Mac a dull pony.

Alright! That's my review of Zen and the Art of Gazebo Repair. A nice and light - hearted take on southern life. If you're a fan if that big red stud or just need a small laugh you'll love these issues. I give both comics a combined 10 / 10. I hope you guys enjoyed this review.
