Cultures Contemplations: Fall of an Idol 3 - The Aftermath

Hello again everybody. As you can see, I'll be skipping my usual upbeat intro in order to set a more somber and serious tone for this issue. Frankly though, part of me feels I shouldn't have to be making this point. And, honestly, I agree with it. But given the state of the community I feel it's necessary to address some rather negative points that's been going around. Note, I won't be going into as much detail as I did last time. I'm well aware the majority of the fandom knows the whole story by now. Also, this will not completely tie in with my second opinion entry. This will be more of an extension meant to give my opinion on how things have progressed since then. Likewise, I ask that you read through completely before judging my opinion as things become clearer overtime. With that said, let's begin.

So, it's been nearly a month since the initial Toonkritic incident had occurred. Since then several fans and other community members have come forward sharing their own point of views and even a few personal stories regarding the former edgelord. What's more is a lot of Zak's former entourage have even come forward to share their own feelings and personal experiences regarding the aforementioned offender. And personally, I applaud them for doing so as it shows their own innocence in the matter and that they've finally accepted the obvious. And the same goes for those who are still coming forward and opening up. However, while all of this should be seen as a healing point for some, others see it as an opening to attack. And that's not something I can be cool with.

First off, I can understand that tensions are still high regarding the whole revelation. But that honestly shouldn't be seen as a sign to go into a frenzy over every little thing. Back up, take a deep breath, and calm the storm in your mind. It's okay to be emotional but don't let them rule you. Try to approach things with a level head and a clear opinion. Otherwise, just keep quiet until you think you can present yourself with some dignity.

Secondly, I'd like to address the personal attacks being made on Zak's former friends. While some of you refuse to believe it, none of this is their fault. They themselves have admitted to offering Zak help when he needed it most only to be turned down. Not to mention the fact that not everyone of them was aware of this. Most of his former friends were as shocked and appalled as the rest of us were. But does that mean anything to a lot of you? No! Because some of you can't see past your own personal grudges or opinions about them.

Lastly, the sudden witch hunts. Recently I came across a rather pitiful expose done by one Vida on youtube about a certain rainbow alicorn named Lightning Bliss. Now while normally I'd be willing to watch the whole video just to give my full opinion on something, I found myself stopping mid opening. The reason being that Vida's entire jumping point against Bliss was in fact a lot of the stories shared by some of Zak's former victims and even a few videos giving peoples personal opinions on it all. Vida if you are reading this I just have one thing to say. Get off your high horse and learn to read between the lines better. Yeah Lightning Bliss isn't perfect but that's no reason to compare her to a bloody pedophile.

In conclusion, while this point should be used as a stepping stone of rebirth and reconstruction for the community I find that more people are abusing the negative publicity from it all to fan the flames of an already unstoppable wildfire. And I fear that if people don't turn back now and use their voices to rebuild for a better future, then things will only continue to decline from here. But that's all just my own opinion on things. Thanks for reading and remember to always keep calm and brony on....peace.
