[Season 3] Episode 8: Apple Family Reunion..... if you plan it they will come

HELLOOO EVERYBODY and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and Beyond. In todays review, we learn how the best memories come from the most simplest of moments. However, there are a few rules to go over before we get started. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice ANY mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, please don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Apple Family Reunion is the 8th episode of season 3 and the 60th episode overall. Written by Cindy Morrow, this episode marks the second time we get to see the entire Apple clan in one place. Tasked with planning this years reunion Applejack sets forth to make it one to remember. But when her plans start falling apart in front of her she soon learns she bit off more than she can chew. Can she rescue he reunion? Or will this be one for he record books?

Now, personally, I'm almost on the fence about this episode. I did like the wholesome moral and the subtle nods Sabrina Alberghetti, the episodes storyboard artist, made to Applejacks deceased parents. As for the rest, it felt kind of force fed. Not to mention it missed the whole purpose of a family reunion altogether. More so, it felt less like an episode of MLP and more like Johnson Family Vacation.

Although the episode struggles to convey it, I feel the moral to it is no less heartwarming. A real family reunion isn't about the events or the accomplishments you make. It's about spending time with the ones you love. And making memories that'll last a lifetime.

Although I still have my issues with the episode I gotta give credit where credit is due. Cindy did an amazing job in the end and pulled off a memorable finish for future apple family endeavors. And Sabrinas subtle hints with the shooting stars were spot on regarding Applejacks missing parents. With that in mind, overall, I think it was an okay episode for what it's worth. Even with it's rocky start.

Alright! This concludes my review of Apple Family Reunion. Not a grade A episode for Aj fanatics but worth a watch if your ever interested. I give this episode a 6 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review? Leave it in the comments section down below.
