My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Issues #61 - 62

HELLOOO EVERYBODY and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review, we're taking a trip to the center of it all for a cultural adventure. However, there are a few rules to go over before we get started. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice ANY mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, please don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Convocation of the Creatures is a two - part arc from IDW Publishing's main comic series. Written by Ted Anderson and accompanied by Andy Price on artwork, the story takes place during a millennial convention of both royals and representatives alike. While enjoying the Convocation Twilight makes a discovery that threatens the very foundation of Equestria. It's up to Twilight and a group of attending archivists to save the day. But can they find the evidence? Or will Canterlot go to the birds?

In my honest opinion, This has been one of my favorite two - part issue as of yet. Partially because it actual deals in a field I love, but most of all it helps to expand the readers incite into cultures beyond the equestrian border. Of course we also get to see characters like Prince Rutherford and Ember reprise their comic book roles as well Queen Novos first appearance outside of the films continuity. Let alone Thorax's first appearance. Which, considering the rainbow spectrum changelings come in these days, being able to apply that in comic form is impressive.

Personally, I feel warmly about the lesson in this mini - arc. Mostly about how there's more to diplomacy than just paperwork. It's also about the chance to experience something new. Like learning about the different cultures and experiencing them alongside new friends. You never what you could experience if you don't open your mind to the possibilities around you.

Normally, this would likely be the part where I tear into an issue. Surprisingly though, I couldn't really find any faults in these issues. I loved the story, the artwork was spot on, and getting to see so many unique cultures in one place was amazing. Personally, I feel at home with this issue. Like it was written and published with myself in mind. Biased opinions aside, here's hoping things are just as good in the next few issues.

Alright! This concludes my review of Convocation of the Creatures. A lovely introduction to universal culture and well worth a recommendation in my name. I give these issues a 10 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review? Leave it in the comments section down below.
