My Little Pony: Friends Forever Issue #11

HELLOOO EVERYBODY and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your Guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review, we learn that no small hurdle is easy to overcome unless you have the right motivation. However, there are a few rules to go over before we get started. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice ANY mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, please don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Friends Forever #11 is the 11th issue of IDW's Friends Forever comic series. Written by Ted Anderson and accompamied by Jay Fosgitt on art, the story pits Rainbow Dash and her prominent idol / commander Spitfire against quite a tough challenge. While running a temporary mail route for the local post office Rainbow Dash receives an urgent letter of address from her acting commander Spitfire. Intrigued by the sense of danger behind it Rainbow heads off to meet her. But when things turn out a little less deadlier than expected Rainbow begins to question Spitfires orders. Is ther more to this than Spitfire is letting on? Or is the answer as plain as day?

Okay, here we are again with another Rainbow Dash team up issue. Thank Faust they paired up with somepony with a sense of limits. Character judgments aside, I feel like this issue was pretty mellow for a Wonderbolts pair up. Granted, there was the tornado in the end but even then I was still left hanging about halfway in it. Andersons writing was a bit on the slow side for this issue and Fosgitts artistry most had me thinking about shows like Tiny Toon Adventures and The Animaniacs while I was skimming through it all. Though in context the coloring gave it a more Flintstones Kids appearance as well so who am I kidding?

To best summarize this issues lesson, I think it most pertains to setting a good example for future generations. It's not an easy task to do sometimes and can often lead to horrible first impressions. Always be sure to lead but don't push. Find a rhythm that both you and the students in your care can learn at. And don't be afraid to try a different style to your normal routine. Whether your teaching from example or just plain old making boring lessons fun for everyone. In the end your students will grow to trust you and learn to open their minds to new and exciting things everyday.

In summary, I feel the issue was slow paced and less dynamic given the cast and task at hand. I also think Spitfire's whole motivation behind her teaching methods could use a little work but otherwise they get the job done in the end. Again, not quite what I expected from the cover but I still had fun and I'm eagerly anticipating whatever adventures await us in next weeks issue.

Alright! This concludes todays review. Not my cup of tea given the lack of pulse pounding adrenaline but I guess I can recommend it strictly for celebrity publicity. I give this issue a 7 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates in the future. Got a suggestion for a review?
