[Season 4] Episode 3: Castle Mane - ia.... live from madison square garden

HELLOOO EVERYBODY and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review, we gear up for a haunted mystery straight out of the history books. However, there are a FEW rules to go over before we can get started. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it EVER, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if ANY of you notice ANY mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, please don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Castle - Mania is the 3rd episode of season 4 and the 68th episode overall. Written by Josh Haber, this episode originally foreshadowed the events of the comic arc "From the Shadows". While researching the mysterious chest Twilight travels to the old ruins of the Castle of the Two Sisters for answers. Unbeknownst to her, the rest of her friends also head to the same place for one reason or another. With traps and tricks alike the whole adventure ends up in a chaotic mess. Will Twilight find what she needs? And what about the legend of The Pony of Shadows?

Okay, glad to see my prayers from the recent review were answered. Castle - Mania is, by far, an amazing combination of awesome elements. 2 parts horror. 2 parts comedy. All with an impressive dash of foreshadowing to spice it up. What's more is it reminds me of classics mystery / horror cartoons like Scooby - Doo and so many others. Whether it was the old school trap slides or the spinning walls the episode left no detail alone. Which, of course, you have to credit Josh Haber for doing such an amazing job translating a classic style to modern times.

In regards to the lesson in the episode I have to say it's probably about believing everything you hear. Sometimes what we most fear ends up just being one big joke meant to scare us. A good way to overcome them is to stand up and face them. Or, if I may quote my favorite pink pony, you just gotta learn to giggle at the ghosties and laugh away that fear.

As easy as I make it, and it's pretty easy to do, I can't really find any mistakes to this episode. The plot is entertaining, the story is in order, and the visuals were amazing. In a nutshell, this episode was perfect down to the smallest detail. And overall, I'm glad I came back to it. And because of it, I'm more than confidant that whatever comes next will only continue to impress me.

Alright! This concludes my review of Castle - Mania. Honestly and altogether wonderful episode for both MLP and Scooby - Doo fans alike and I HIGHLY recommend you check it out. I give this episode a 10 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review?
