Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice
HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays we review the ultimate battle between god and man. Before we continue let me lay out the ground rules. Firstly, all content in this blog is the express opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said let's move on. Shall we?
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is the critical answer to the age old question. Who would win in a fight? Batman? Or Superman? Personally, I vote for Marvels Deadpool but I doubt that crossover will happen anytime soon. Hint hint.
Now before I get to far ahead of myself let me state a few things. No. I do not DC. While Marvel may appeal to my personal tastes DC does have some merit. Even though most dark heroes aside from Batman are b - listers. Notably, while they may excel comics and TV shows their film accomplishments are gradually declining. This film was no acception.
Granted this was a decent film. The action was large scale and the dramatic scenes were well written. Though I feel the film was a bit too Batman and not enough Superman. Going as far as casting the character Lex Luthor as the demented Joker of the film DC gave a reverse take on these two heroes. Placing Batman in Supermans shoes as the do-gooder and Superman in Batmans shoes as the vigilante.
I did like how the writers borrowed inspiration from the comic "The Death of Superman" for their climactic ending. In it, the man of steel takes on the genetic weapon, Doomsday, in a fight to the death. Initially the comic does theoretically kill him off only to revive him in the following issue. Will the Justice League film follow this same pattern? Possibly. But we won't know till its initial release.
The biggest problem in my opinion however wasn't with the film itself but rather with the character of Batman. Growing up, Batman was always dark and brooding hero of DC. He was the night. He was vengeance. He. Was. Batman. What he was not, however, is a goof comedian who gave us " Good Will Hunting". Ben Affleck is flat out the worst pick DC made for the iconic hero and will continue to make in the following Batman films.
Alright! That concludes my review of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. For all the films merit nothing could erase the minor red x's on its payout. I still however reccomend this to any comic junkie and fanatic oit there. I give Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice a climactic 7 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed this review.
