Episode 10: Swarm of the Century.... An Alfred Hitchcock production

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review we get a lesson in advanced pest control. Before we continue let me lay out the ground rules. Firstly, all content in this blog is the express opinion of its author. Episode 10: Swarm of the Century at first glance sound like Hasbro's attempt at an Alfred Hitchcock joke. All it was missing was Larson popping up and saying "Good evening."

This episodes main played similarly to the previous episode, Bridal Gossip. Sometimes the most simple solutions can come from the most unexpected places. In this case Twilight and the others were so frantic to solve things they failed to stop and actually make a plan. Instead, thry acted only on what THEY knew rather than what everyone knew. In the end it was unpredictable Pinkie who saved the day. Proving that you can't judge a book by its cover.

My main problem with this episode isn't too bad, but still worth pointing out. In episode 9 the girls had learned a hard lesson about judging others based on appearence. That being said I kinda feel mad seeing them so easily dismissing Pinkie's...Pinkieisms...till the last second. Not everyone has to look smart to be smart. In Pinkies case she acted on her own experiences and leapt into action. Learning the same lesson twice is just a textbook case of bad writing and laziness.

Alright! That was my review of Swarm of The Century. An okay episode in my opinion. Aside from the repeated Bridal Gossip lesson I could reccomend this episode. I give Swarm of the Century a 8 / 10.
