Dredd...Who Judges the Judges
HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review we visit a future where the law lives by one oath. Shoot first, ask questions later. Before we begin let me lay out the ground rules. Firstly, all content in this blog is the express opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's move on. Shall we?
Dredd was a film released in the late 2012. It featured a small list of notable actors. Most notable being Karl Urban who portrayed Judge Dredd. Though what do you expect from the guy who played the god of love in Xena and Hercules.
Thing that captured my attention in this film was the overall theme. The dark and dismal tone played heavily to my love of the dark / anti-hero archetype. Emphasized only by the post - apocalyptic downtown New York setting.
For all the films entirety it features a heavy amount of action and violence. The downside? That's all there is. With no underlying story or character interaction its no wonder why fans dropped the film so heavily. Add to that a run time of only an 1:30:00 and you kinda understand why it flopped. A sad truth for such a fast paced film.
Alright! This concludes my review of Dredd. Loved the action and the theme, but would have loved some character background. I recommend this only for mature audiences. I give Dredd a 7 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also don't forget to follow my blog for more content. Got a suggetion for a review? Leave it in the comments below.
