My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic issue 24

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review we board the TARDIS for a special lesson in history.. Before we continue let me lay out the ground rules. Firstly, all content in this blog is the express opinion if its author. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic issue 24 brings together writer Jeremy Whitley and artist Brenda Hickey for an MLP take on the classic series Doctor Who. A comedic and educational story as led by the chaos lord himself, Discord. Always fun seeing my favorite pairing in something MLP related. Whitley definitely made Fluttercord shippers proud.

As the theme implies this comic is losely parodied around Doctor Who. Being a small fan of the series it pleases to see it involved in MLP so much. It also directly parodies another older childrens cartoon called Mr. Peabody and Sherman. A show about a time traveling of Mr. Peabody the talking dog and his young ward Sherman. Definitely an A+ on the nostalgia meter for older readers who grew up with the iconic cartoon.

The underlying moral this issue tackles a key issue in a relationship. Always be considerate to the people you are close to. The things you do can impact your bond with them drastically. Like how Discord didn't consider the dangers he put his friends in just because he wanted to share his life with them. In the end Discord learned his lesson and all was forgiven.

The thing that irked me was how short this comic was. It would have been nice to see a bit more of Equestrian histoey as told by Discord. Then again we did get references to the lost city of Atlantis, Egypt, and a small reference to best anime Sailor Moon so I think I'm happy.

Alright! That concludes my review of issue 24. Alwats fun to see Discord rear his comedic head in something. Brings a sense of adventurous fun with him. I fully recommend this for nostalgia fans and whovians alike. I give this issue a 9.5 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed this review. Be sure to leave a like if you did.
