Speed Racer the movie...Go racer go

In todays review we shift into the fast lane for a live action adaption of a pop culture classic. Before we continue let me lay out the ground rules. Speed Racer the movie is a live action film dedicated to the 1967 anime Speed Racer, or Mach GoGoGo for japanese viewers. Brainchild of Tatsuo Yoshida, the series focused on the life of young racer Speed Racer. It featured dramactic action and fast paced racing to create an amazing series of its time.

Speed Racer the movie kicks things up a notch by adding a modern yet futuristic twist to the old series. The setting seems reminiscent of Cat in the Hat mixed with F-Zero. My favorite parts were the action scenes. Whether it was the racing or character interaction this movie delivered greatly on it.

Now the bad part. With its amazing scenery and action there was one thing that just drig the film way down. Its slow pacing. Yes, I know it needed to set the story and introduce the key characters. But I just think those parts ran too long and the dialogue was just stale. Definitely could have used less of it in the full film.

Alright! This has been my review of Speed Racer the movie. A good movie for nostalgia but not for the impatient. I recommend it to all fans. I give Speed Racer the movie a 9 / 10.
