Cultures Contemplations: Series Finale's and What They Effect
HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today I'm introducing another new segment where I give my thoughts on various subjects floating around today. Before we continue, let's review the rules. Firstly, all content within this blog is the express opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?
So as most of us know season 7 of My Little Pony: Friendship just started and the brony fandom is buzzing over it. Today however I wanna cover a recent topic from before its initial premier. One that had the fandom in a massive uproat. The inevitable series finale.
Before anyone brings it up. This topic doesn't just apply to the brony fandom. This has effected all fandoms throughout pop culture history. And it's had its fair share of positive and negative effects.
First off lets look at the positive side of it. Sometimes when a show ends it can leave fans heart broken and lost. But depending on how its initial ratings go some shows often branch out into popular spin - offs and specials. Or if enough fans support companies even go as far as to reboot a show to appeal to new generations. Similar to how MLP has spawned multiple different generations over the years.
Now the negatives. A lot of fans often jump the gun when it comes to a shows finale. This can lead to arguements within the fandom over just how things will end. This can lead to longtime fans quitting altogether and scare away potential members. Inevitably killing the fandom.
Though its not always the viewers fault. Sometimes a show, comic, or whatever else can easily rush by so quick that its over before the fandom begins. This is usually do to poor ratings and lack of seasons and additions to the series.
In the end though I think its okay to wonder how and when something will end. Just don't let yourself go overboard about it. You ruin the rest of what's to come and easily jump to conclusions. Just because something ends it doesn't mean the fandom is dead. As long as the old episodes, games, and such exist fandoms will continue to live and grow for years to come.
Alright! This concludes my first discussion forum. Hope you guys enjoyed it. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also make sure you follow this blog for more updates.
