Elysium...welcome to gods domain
HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review we go spacebound for an action packed experience. Before we begin, let's review the rules. Firstly, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?
Elysium was a film produced by TriStar Pictures in August of 2013. Set in a post apocalyptic future it starred Matt Damon as Max Da Costa. A former felon who was living is less than crappy life when an accidental overdose of radiation ruined it all. Stuck in a race against time, his only hope lies in the space colony of Elysium. Sound familiar?
Honestly? This film lived up to its subpar ratings. Granted the action scenes were decent at times it didn't really improve the films overall quality. Of course it's expected from the people who also produced District 9. Though in a way...District 9 would have made a better pick than this.
Other than its below lackluster appeal there were several key issues here. For starters, the stories plot was cliche and overdone. Secondly, the acting was subpar and often times as dry as desert toast. Lastly, the dialogue sounded like a bad bilingual mixtape. Frankly I'm surprised this film lasted on opening night. Nor how it almost doubled it's budget at the box office. Guess film quality was in the toilet that year.
Alright! This concludes my review of Elysium. A marginally decent film at best. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone to be honest. I give Elysium a 5 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review.
