Episode 18: The Show Stoppers...HBK be praised
HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. It's time to hit the stage and get ready for our grand finale in todays review. Before we begin, lets review the rules. Firstly, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?
Episode 18, entitled The Show Stoppers, followed the Cutie Mark Crusaders as they set hoof out on their journey to find their cutie marks. A journey that eventually leads to big discoveries.
I felt slightly nostalgic watching the CMC's first day of crusading. It was nice seeing how they started so small to achieve so much. Most of all though I liked the subtle nod to fan concepts. Its always good to see companies like Hasbro acknowledging creativity in the brony community. If only they did it more often.
The lesson in this episode was small but powerful nonetheless. Stick to what your best at. If the CMC had took a moment to reconsider their jobs maybe things would have ended differently. Too bad they learned that AFTER the disaster of comedic proportions.
There was one major problem I had with this episode. Blatantly obvious self promotion. It's just sad when a company has to self - promote a show IN A SHOW just to sell cheap merchandise. If I had a nickel for everytime " My Little Pony " came up in this episode I could buy a pack of gum.
Alright! This concludes my review of The Show Stoppers. Best CMC episode of season 1 by far. I highly recommend it for the laughs. I give episode 18 an 8.5 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed this review.
