My Little Pony: Friends Forever issue #4
HELLOOO everybody and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we learn how royal duties often get in the way of important commitments. Before we begin, however, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?
Friends Forever #4 is the 4th issue of the IDW comic series. A collaboration between writer Rob Anderson and artist Amy Mebberson, the story follows Twilight Sparkle and her brother, Shining Armor, during a less than pleasant visit. While Cadance is away on business, Twilight decides to visit her brother at the Crystal Empire. When she arrives, however, she stumbles upon a monster mystery ripe with adventure. Can she and Shining track down the mysterious crystal phantom? Or is there more to this mystery than they realize?
Wow. So this issue was pretty tame for a Sparkle sibling reunion. Though it wasn't all that impressive. Aside from some hidden history and a new species there wasn't a lot to this issue. But of course that's just my perspective.
If there has to be a lesson here then I'd say it's that growing up is hard. Somewhere along the way, you lose track of what made life so fun and the people you enjoyed it with. But that doesn't mean it's gone forever. No matter what, friends and family will always have time for each other. Even if it means coming together for...strange... reasons.
I think the big problem with this issue was how quick a lot of it goes by. Plus at some points the story just trails off too much. Though in fairness it kinda felt like a preschool version of Scooby Doo at times. Frankly, I feel like IDW just didn't put all 110% into this and it failed because of it. Though in hindsight, we did get to see Mario and Luigi on there dayjobs.
Alright! This concludes my review if Friends Forever #4. A bit too light hearted to really be enjoyable imo. But I still recommen it for the mario. I give this issue a 6 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review? Leave it in the comments section down below.
