Top 5 Favorite Fanfics

HELLOOO everybody and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, I'm bringing 5 of my favorite mlp stories written by fans like me and you. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor shoulld it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. Also a reminder, this list will not feature any specific order. And should only be taken as opinion rather than anything else. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

So recently I've been doing a lot of fanfic reading. Mostly to find material fan reviews of course. But every now and again I'll find a story or two pass the time or just because. Personally, I'm impressed by so many of the creative stories and ideas a lot of you have written. So today, I thought I'd countdown 5 of my all time. Quick note, I will likely not be including too many mainstream fics as to avoid majority opinion. That being said let's get right to it:

1. Daughter of Discord by Disneyfanatic23 -
A sequel to the acclaimed Bride of Discord, this story follows the life of one Screwball, the daughter of Fluttershy and Discord, as she grows up learning to control her newfound powers. All while dodging the evil Queen Chrysalis and her changelings. I think what made me love this so much was how I related to Screwball. Growing up I was a bit of an outcast and I struggled a lot because of it. Screwballs rambunctious personality and her ability to.always persevere are what makes this such an interesting read.

2. I can keep you safe, I can keep you happy. by Phxntxm -
After a fun day at Twilights with Aj, Rainbow learns some devastating news. Who will she turn to for comfort when she's lost it all? Written as a tragic romance, this fic tears at the readers heart by giving a glimpse into Rainbows past involving a traumatic event. The whole thhing is essentially meant as one big Appledash shipfic. Just with a perfect blend of uplifting and a hint of dramatic flare.

3. Beauty, Books, and Butterflies by Rough_Draft -
While adjusting to her new life, Rarity convinces Twilight to help her find her special somepony. When that somepony turns out to be Fluttershy, awkward and adorable moments are sure to follow. But when a storm threatens to tear them apart it's up to Fluttershy to.overcome her past to protect her future. But can she do it alone? I loved this film and the chemistry the pairing has. Similar to Flutterdash but without the ego to ruin it all.

4. Finding Home by Krickis -
A sequel to the story Inner Strength, this story follows Sunset as she returns home for the long run. With nothing left in the human world, Sunset Shimmer makes the journey back home to make fresh start. But what happens if long forgotten feelings threaten her journey back? I cannot describe the passion and emotions this fanfic contains. It just... oozes creative emotions. A wonderful plus for any romantic drama fan.

5. Finding Home by Cirrus Sky -
Unlike the previous story, this one focuses on Sumset Shimmer and a secret she keeps hidden. The main 6 have been worried about their friend and where she goes after school. After quite a while, Sunset finally decides to tell them the whole truth. But are they ready for it? I loved this fic and how it uses non - narrative pov to  tell a story within a story. As well as the honest hardships Sunset suffered after her defeat at the Fall Formal and after being accused of being a gossip. And how just one single gesture seems can save a life.
