My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic issue #59
HELLOOO everybody and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review, we learn how some people don't always accept everything they here. However, before we begin there are a few rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, please don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?
FiM #59 is the 59th issue of the main comic series from IDW. Written by Christina Rice and accompanied by artist Agnes Garbowska, the story takes place following the episode "Secrets and Pies". Bummed after hearing about Dashes dislike of Pie. Pinkie sets out to solve a problem that isn't there. If only Rainbow could make her understand the truth. Will Pinkie see the light? Or are pies the limit for our sky blue speedster?
Okay then. I pleasantly enjoyed this issue. Though I'm still not a Rainbow Dash fan I can appreciate how her ego mellows out around her friends. Especially characters like Pinkie or Aj. Though I'm not entirely sure what purpose this issue serves I still enjoyed another helping of Garbowska playful artstyle.
Similar to the episode it accompanies, the lesson in this issue teaches readers that not all of us are created equally. Some of us varying tastes that differ from one another. But that doesn't mean we have to hate each other for it. You should always accept others even if they don't enjoy the same things you do.
Fanboy opinion aside there's only really one problem with this issue. It's not the pacing, even though it was moderately quick. It's not the dialogue. Which was on point each panel. But more or less the point to it all. Especially when in "Secrets and Pies" Pinkie accepts Rainbows dislike of pies. Was there more to that episode than intended? Or are IDW's writers slipping as time goes by? Either way this was still entertaining to read in its own way.
Alright! This concludes my review of issue #59. I'm never one to fully diss a Pinkie ANYTHING these days. And even with Rainbow included I high recommend this issue to.any Pinkie Pie fans. I give this issue an 8.5 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a rewiew?
