Cultures Contemplations: The Leaky Faucet

HELLOOO EVERYBODY and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays entry, we unload on some recent rumor mills and gossip. However, there are a few rules to go over before we get started. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice ANY mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, please don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

So its been quite a while since the finale of season 7. We got a surprise twist and learned a lot about characters we barely knew about. Now, with the dawn of season 8 upon us, fans are easily susceptible to the dreaded leaks and rumor mills that usually float around the web. Usually it's not such a problem. But now with the approach of season 8 things have gone from simple episode predictions to something much, much worse.

To start I wanna first focus on the worst of it. The generation 5 rumors and the artwork that's been getting passed around. So, I'm unaware how many people know this but, when a series usually either introduces a new character or new art design there's usually several prototypes to choose from. Of course these alternative ideas aren't always public knowledge, but on rare occassions a fan will come across the leaked concept art after the series or character premiers. Of course there's also the off chance it could be fan art drawn early on in the show. Either way, it doesn't entirely mean it's a Gen 5 leak. Unless you can supply legitimate sources than your images are as useful as a kick to the head.

Next, I'd like to shed some light on this series apocalypse theory. So to summarize, recently, a lot of fans have been going around and claiming season 9 would be the shows finale. While this could be possible it's still just a rumor at the end of the day. Unless of course it had an official statement to back it up.

To sum up this rant in one paragraph. Leaks are bad. They can mess a fandom up and can wreck shows from the inside. Learn to tell the difference between the rumor and reality BEFORE you judge it. Otherwise you come off as a pain in plot.
