My Little Pony: Friends Forever issue #8
HELLOOO EVERYBODY and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review, we've packed our bags for a cross country trip like no other. However, before we get started there are a few rules to go over. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice ANY mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, please don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?
Reins, Trains, and Carts with Wheels is the 8th issue of IDW Publishing's Friends Forever comic series. Written by Katie Cook and with art by Andy Price, the story pairs the steadfast farmer Aj with the fashion diva Rarity on a cross country adventure. After receiving a business proposal from out of town relatives, Aj sets out to close the deal for the family farm. Rarity tags along for a chance to see the sights. But when a series of unforseen events puts the brakes on their trip the duo are on a race to the finish line. Will Aj make her meeting in time?
Okay, so this issue tookj a rather obvious with its pairing. The story was pretty basic for a rarijack comic. And the interactions were pretty predictable given the duo's history. Altogether, it was a pretty mild issue. Though I did love the cameos and the subtle nod to the National Lampoons series of films.
Frankly, I'm not 100% sure what the lesson here would be. My guess is its probably about not getting up in every little detail. Take your time on the road ahead and enjoy the sites. Afterall, it's not about the destination but the journey to and fro.
Moderately speaking, this issue was... okay... at best. Mostly due to obvious reasons off course. Though given its ending I'm more than hoping next issue makes up for it in the long run.
Alright! This concludes my review of issue #8. A decent story and recommendable to all my rarijack fans. I give this issue a 7 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review.
