My Little Pony: Friends Forever issue 7
HELLOOO EVERYBODY and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review, we learn how comedy can be a serious business. However, before we get started there are a few rules to go over. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice ANY mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, please don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?
Friends Forever #7 is the seventh issue of IDW Publishing's slice of life series. A collab between writer Jeremy Whitley and artist Tony Fleecs, the story pairs the stoic Princess Luna with the party guru Pinkie Pie in a laughtastic montage of comedy. In order to beat Celestia at her own games Luna seeks Twilight aid to learn about comedy. But when the practical approach fails Twilight turns to the only other pony who can help, Pinkie Pie. Can the party planner make a monkey out of the lunar diarch? Or is this Luna's final curtain call?
I seriously applaud who thought to pair best pony with best princess in one issue. Fleecs artwork was on point. Whitley's writing blended both personality equally. And most of all the humor, thought not as over the top as most Pinkie issues, was on point and equally funny. Also, shout out to cameos from s1e25 Party of One and Rainbow Dash's Micro.
Personally, I feel Princess Luna's last words was a fitting lesson to this issue. Don't be afraid to make a fool of yourself once in a while. Just be yourself and let the good times roll.
As far as problems go, this issue didn't have any. Aside from Pinkies reaction to Princess Luna of course. I mean it's been at least 3 - 4 seasons already. I'm pretty sure Pinkie Pie is over her initial fears. That aside, nothing much else felt out off place.
Alright! This cconcludes my review of Friends Forever issue 7. Definitely my favorite pairing and worth the recommendation. I give this issue a 9 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review.
