My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic issue #58

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we see how historic chances often take big sacrifices. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that being said, let's begin. Shall we?

MLP #58 is the 58th issue of IDW's main series. A collab between returning writer Thom Zahler and artist Agnes Garbowska, the story picks up after the events of A Health of Information and features returning character Cattail. After finding some long lost letters in Mage Meadowbrooks journal Twilight, Fluttershy, Zecora, and Cattail head to Filydelphia to deliver them. As well as follow up on Mages own research into the mythical Magenta Bloom. Can the complete her mission? Or will Twilights own ambitions derail their journey?

So, this issue was interesting. Slightly dull but informative nonetheless. I will say Cattail's growing on me as far as favorite background characters go. And it was sweet how Fluttershy thought to deliver Mages old letters to Aqua Vines relative. But aside from the underlying lesson, that's about all there is to this issue. Sad but not necessarily a bad thing.

I feel the lesson to this issue was more informative than educational. Never lose sight of what matters most. Often times we become some immersed in a single goal that it can effect the rest of our lives. Just remember you always friends and family there to keep you on the right track.

So as I said earlier, the issue does have SOME good things about it. Though I will admit the Romeo and Juliet thing is kind of played out. And, personally, the story just lacked that spark that keeps readers interested. Character choices aside, I think there was more than IDW gave us.

Alright! This concludes my review of issue #58. A bit dry but decent at the same time. I recommend this if you have the time. I give this issue 8 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review.
