[Season 2] Episode 18: A Friend in Deed.... is a friend in need

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we learn how making new friends can be a lot harder than it looks. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

A Friend in Deed is the 18th episode of season 2 and the 44th episode overall. Written by Amy Keating Rogers, the episode was the first to feature the most songs within its time frame till Magical Mystery Cure beat it by 3 songs. With the arrival of a newcomer, Pinkie sets out to befriend the rather disgruntled donkey. But when her good intentions go awry her chances to make a new friend nearly go up in smoke. Can she  manage the impossible? Or are some creatures just not worth it?

So, I definitely enjoyed this episode. The plot was peaceful. The story was fun. And the characters flowed nicely. And I didn't even mention the songs.

I think Pinkie put it best when she said while some friends like playing and laughing together, others prefer to be left alone. Which is fine too. All that matters is doing what makes them happy in the end.

I will admit Pinkies attitude seemed a bit... overbearing and insensitive at first. But you really can't blame her too much. And frankly I loved the Smile Song from this episode too much to really berate it.

Alright! This concludes my review of A Friend in Deed. Hilarity with a soft sprinkle of heartwarming in 1 episode. I highly recommend it. I give this episode a 9.5 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review? Leave it in the comments down below.
