The Nightmare Before Christmas
HELLOOO everybody and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we're traveling seasons to review an acclaimed classic. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?
The Nightmare Before Christmas is a 1993 stop - motion musical film directed by Henry Selick. Produced and conceived by Tim Burton, with help from Denise Di Novi. After years of the same song and dance, Jack Skellington yearns for something new to set his soul ablaze. Jack gets his wish after an unplanned trip across the holidays. Will Jacks joyous mood make for a wonderful Christmas? Or are his plans doomed to go up in smoke?
So, yeah. The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite holiday classics. And with good reason. Plus with Halloween around the bend I felt what better way to celebrate?
Originally, the concept for the film was taken from a poem written by producer Tim Burton back in 1982. Years later, Walt Disney to consider funding a production for Burtons brainchild following the success of his earlier film titled Vincent. Production began in 1991 but do to certain concerns from Disney itself it wouldn't be finished till October 29, 1993. Two years after its development deal.
Now growing up when I first saw this movie I was amazed with how it turned out. But after some time the film just loses the luster it once had. Leaving a dull lifeless shell of a film. Surprising for a film that grossed over 76 million just within its first few weeks. Though time often has that effect on things.
Alright! This concludes my review of The Nightmare Before Christmas. As a nostalgia fan I enjoyedd this film. Though if you've seen it once I really recommend you invest elsewhere. I give this film a 7 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to.follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review?
