[Season 2] Episode 16: Read It and Weep.... I'll get the tissues

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we crack open our imagination to discover a whole new world of possibilities. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Read It and Weep is the 16th episode of Season 2 and 42nd episode overall. Written by Cindy Morrow, this episode marked the first appearance of Dash's idol Daring Do, aka A. K. Yearling. After suffering a severe wing sprain Rainbow Dash is left bedridden for a couple of days. To pass the time Twilight suggests reading something from her favorite book series, Daring Do and the Quest for the Sapphire Stone. Hesitant at first, Dash eventually gives in before reading it. Only to realize her own passion for reading. Can Rainbow accept this new development? Or will her ego stop her?

Okay, let me just admit that I'm impressed. Someone made a Dash episode with all ego. At only half the headache. But in all seriousness this episode was "okay" compared to earlier episodes. Just not Top Bolt good.

The underlying lesson I think is don't knock it till you've tried it. Reading is something everyone can enjoy. Often times it can be educational, entertaining, insightful, and inspirational. But most of all, you don't have to be smart to read. You just need an open mind and a vivid imagination.

What crumps me about this episode is of course the usual. Rainbows crushing ego just being such a problem trigger. I mean, honestly, if dash had just swallowed her pride and admitted her joy for reading then maybe getting the book would have been so much easier. Of course then we'dd never get our precious clop meme we all know and love today.

Alright! This concludes my review of Read It and Weep. An improvement over some of Dash's last episodes. Just wish it lasted longer. I recommend this to.any Dash fans. I give this episode a 9 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review? Leave it in the comments down below.
