[Season 2] Episode 17: Hearts and Hooves day.... hooray....

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we learn how too much love can be a dangerous thing. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Hearts and Hooves Day is the 17th episode of season 2 and the 43rd episode overall. Written by Meghan McCarthy, the episode takes place during it's namesake. After finding out their teacher has no special somepony to spend the day with they set out to find her the perfect match. When their first attempt fails the girls turn to a dangerous potion to speed things along. But what happens when their perfect match up becomes a perfect disaster? Can they fix things before it's too late?

This episode....This episode....was by far...the epitomy of crap for this whole season so far. With a title like "Hearts and Hooves Day" you'd expect a heartfelt romantic episode. But NO! The only thing you get is cringe stacked ontop of cringe with a side order of cringe. Which wouldn't have been too terrible IF THEY HAD LAYED OFF THE CHEESY AND GAG INDUCING NICKNAMES AFTER THE FIRST TIME!!!

I'll give the episode it's lesson about how love isn't something you can force. It's an uncontrollable feeling that just happens when the time is right. I agree this was a well thought out and portrayed part to this episode. Only because it's only positive about it.

Frankly, the worst part about the episode is how it reminds viewers of how commercial romantic holidays have become. And how people just use the holidays to live out there own delusional fantasies about how true love works. For shame Hasbro. For shame.

Alright! This concludes my review of Hearts and Hooves Day. Worst romance episode, EVER! I recommend watching a Valentines Day special instead. I give this episode a 3 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review? Leave it in the comments down below.
