Cultures Contemplations: March of Madness

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today we'll be discussing a recent issue brought to light in the MLP fandom. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. Okay so if you've been staying up - to - date with the brony community then you've probably heard the news about Bronycon in Baltimore. As the thumbnail shows apparently a protest has been announced for the date of the con. #MarchAgainstBronies, as it's been called, is a rebellious movement against supposed Trump supporters in the MLP fandom. Yeah. Brony Trump bullies...

Let me just say this personally. I do not support this idiocy. Ever since its early years the brony community has been the victim of large and small scale attacks from non - bronies and various other haters. Most of which have caused the tragic deaths of countless innocent lives.

Surprisingly, the brony community isn't the first and only fandom to have this happen. Countless other fandoms and communities go through it on a daily basis. Where members are continuously subjected and rarely physical abuse due to their tastes, lifestyles, or their choices in life. More then often the abusers are usually former friends, local peer groups, or on occassion family members. Sometimes this can cause the victim to develop anti - social behaviour and trust issues with those closest to them.

Honestly, I feel like this movement is nothing more than society labeling the many for the crimes of the few. Like how an otaku is looked is labeled as a social outcast because of a small minority of the community. Most of us in the brony community are the most loving and tolerable people you could meet. But because of a small of negative members the majority of us have to be subjected to a close - minded protest group that likely won't even have the kind of impact they intend to make. And that's just sad.

As for the person trying to start it all I just have this to say. Get help. Don't blame all of us the actions of a few people. Get your facts straight and soon. Otherwise you'll end causing more trouble for yourself and the people who just wanna have fun.
