My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Issues #51 - 53

Today we're hitting the books as we brush up on our ancient history. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. From the Shadows is a 3 part action / drama arc from writer James Asmus and artist Tony Fleecs. The story follows the main 6 as they attempt to thwart a mysterious book thief from erasing history. But could there be something more to his motives?

Okay. First off, WE FINALLY FIND OUT WHO THE PONY OF SHADOWS WAS! A while back in a previous season we were introduced to the mysterious pony of shadows. Unfortunately, the episode ended without giving a lot of details on our mystery pony. I briefly touched on this in a past blog. Well several issues and seasons later the mystery is solved.

While the story was a little rough at times I liked how its main lesson felt. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Running from the past, no matter how bad it was, is never the right answer. The best thing to do is to learn from it so we can prepared for what the future may hold.

My biggest problem with these issues has to be the pacing. In certain areas I feel like the story dragged on and in others it seemed to rush by. Though for what it's worth I did like the epic spoilers and literary references. They were both exciting and well informative.

Alright! This concludes wy review of From the Shadows. Definitely a story well worth reading if you don't mind a few spoilers. I recommend this to all my readers. I give issues # 51 - 53 an 7.5 / 10.
