Episode 24: Owl's Well That Ends Well...Or So I'm Told

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today we learn how a little rivalry can bring out the worst in everyone. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Episode 24: Owl's That Ends Well is a dramatic slice - of - life episode centered around Spike and Owlowiscious as a duo. Spike spends most of the episode basking in the adoration of his peers. Things change however when the arrival of a new feathery foe, Owlowiscious, threatens to shatter his perfect bliss. Fearing that he's being replaced Spike plots to frame his new rival. But what happens when his plans backfire and his perfect world begins to crumble?

I'm just gonna get this outta the way now and say I did not like this episode. Given its not the most horrifying episode I was still less than satisfied. Though the ending was great and a tad humorous I don't think it really saved the episode entirely.

I feel the moral here was kinda rips from the episode " Green Isn't Your Color". Jealousy is a dangerous thing. It can tear apart friendships and shatter loving bonds instantly. Or in Spikes case, breaking their trust. Often times turning the best of friends into the bitterest of enemies.

I think what really sanking this episode for me was Spike himself. Just his head attitude alone was enough to make me shake my head in shame. I know he's grown over the seasons so far, in more ways than one, and I'm proud of him for that. But that doesn't change how ridiculous he used to act in the past. Heck, he still does every now and then. I just hope in the next few seasons we get to see the little guy mature into a respectable character everyone can love.

Alright! This concludes my review of Owl's Well That Ends Well. Honestly, not Spikes best episode. I don't think I can recommend this... for both our dragonic prides. I give episode 24 a 4 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review? Leave it in the comments below.
