Cultures Contemplations: Season 1 Rewind

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. For today, we're taking a look back at MLP Season 1 and discussing its negatives and its positives. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Well now, here we finally are. It's been a rough going since my first review. And what a season it is. Granted, the first season is rarely expected to be flashy but, what it lacked in appeal it more than made up with brilliant introductions and plot development.

As with any show, season 1 of My Little Pony: Frienship was chock full of both interesting and characters. Though some may have started as less than favorable, such as Rarity and Rainbow, it still served to rank characters among fans. Not to mention leave lasting impressions on new and old viewers.

I feel this seasons best part was the underlying story between the princess of the sun, Celestia, and her lunar sibling, Luna. It helped to introduce the shows main lore and opened fans up to Equestrias main universe. Primarily its main country and its unique cultures.

I will say the seasons two part opener was incredibly entertaining. And it introduced quite the characters. The season finale, however, is another story. To be honest, it wasn't exciting as you'd expect. With all the build up you'd expect something a bit more....grand. But instead it kinda felt more like a school prom. I'll give it you had nothing to really compare it to from the beginning, but if you compare it to finales like Twilight's Kingdom and To Where and Back Again it's kinda sad.

In a nutshell, Season 1 served its purpose as far as giving fans a taste of things to come. Personally, I can't say when the series is going to officially end. But what I can say is that I look forward to the road ahead and what it may hold. With season 1 complete and season 2 reviews coming soon I expect things to really pick up as we move into the larger part of the series. And I'll be sure to bring you my own take on it all every step of the way.

Alright! This concludes my first season recap. I want to thank all of you who have been reading these reviews for sticking with me for so long. With the season recap complete I'll be taking a week off for some well deserved rest before picking up with season 2. Hope you guys enjoyed this. Be sure to leave a like if you did.
