Episode 25: Party of One....yet table for two

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today we learn how sometimes a little lie can stir some big issues. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Episode 25: Party of One is a dramatic slice of life episode featuring the filly of fun herself, Pinkie Pie. The episode starts off with Pinkie delivering a singing telegram inviting all her friends to a birthday being held in Gummy's honor. Naturally the party goes off without a hitch prompting Pinkie to plan another the following day. Unfortunately, the rest of the gang ends up bailing. All for very suspicious reasons. Could they be hiding something from the poor party pony? If so, what does it have to do with Pinkie?

Okay, so to get the favoritism out of the way let me say I love Pinkie episodes. Ever since her introduction Pinkie Pie has been the comedic staple for the shows more gag related content. Surprisingly though this episode also shows how fragile of a pony she can be as well. It's also the first episode where we see Pinkie's depressed state or alter persona, Pinkemena Diane Pie. Unlike her fan made identity, Pinkemena is the result of Pinkies repressed pain and loneliness. Further provinghow often times those who smile the brightest suffer the most.

I feel the lesson in this episode is about having faith in those you love most. Sometimes we let our personal cloud our judgement. Making see things in a different light. Like how Pinkie misread the signals her friends were giving. Causing her to jump the gun making her give into depression and anger.

I don't really feel there were any real issues with this episode. True, it did highlight some very troubling issues related to abandonment and social distrust. But at the same time I think it was done in a positive and educational way. Teaching viewers about the effects misjudging others and how a lie can often cause the most damage. Even if it's for a good cause.

Alright! This concludes my review of Party of One. A very informative and entertaining episode. Featuring an awesome pony. I definitely recommend watching it. I give episode 25 a 10 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also don't forget to stay tuned for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review? Leave it in the comments below.
