Episode 26: The Best Night Ever...eat it Spongebob

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. In todays review we're heading to the biggest event of the year where dreams come true...or do they? Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Episode 26: The Best Night Ever is a dramatic slice of life episode as well as the finale of Season 1. It features the whole gang as they prepare for the night of all nights, the Grand Galloping Gala, in Canterlot. An event filled with dreams and hopes for each mare. Unfortunately, things take a major turn for the worse when reality hits. Crushing things for the girls. Can they manage to salvage it all and still have the best night ever? Or have they set their hopes too high?

Okay. To be frank this wasn't the kind of finale you'd expect for the first season. The episode did have entertaining moments mind you. But on a full scale it just wasn't very entertaining. Mostly because the whole thing felt more like a high school prom than a high class event.

Given the whole theme to the episode I think the lesson to all was obvious. Friendship is a powerful thing. It can turn a bad experience into something worthwile.

Speaking frankly, I think the episode was decent. I just think the build up was a bit wasted. There wasn't really much of wow factor the episode itself honestly. And it lacked a lot of flash and flare. Save for the outfits the girls wore. And what ultimately kills it can be summed up in two words....Prince Blueblood. The worst pony in the history of ponies.

Alright! This concludes my review of The Best Night Ever. Despite the lack of appeal I think it was an okay finale for the first season. If you're planning a prom night then I highly recommend this episode. I give episode 26 a 7 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did.
