My Little Pony Micro - Series #5: Pinkie Pie
HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we learn how sometimes the show must end. Before we begin, lets review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?
Micro - Series #5 is a slice of life / inspirational issue from writer Ted Anderson and artist Ben Bates. And it stars the pink party pony of ceremonies herself, Pinkie Pie. After watching a performance by her comedic idol the great Ponyacci, Pinkie finds out that her inspiration plans to call it quits. Determined to change his mind tries to put on a grand performance with the help of Twilight. Can she stop him from giving up after the last laugh?
Okay, so here we are at last with a Pinkie Pie micro. And, while a bit mild for Pinkies character, I think it was unique and inspiring in its own way. Plus it was nice seeing what inspired Pinkie to become the bubbly and comedic personality know and love. Most of all I loved the character Ponyacci, who was inspired by the Italian opera Pagliacci and a reference to writer Alan Moore's Watchmen.
The big lesson in this issue, as Pinkie states, helping someone fulfill their dream can be just as good as fulfilling your own. Sometimes the best way to help others is to show them a better way to look at things. Like how Pinkie showed Ponyacci that there can be more to comedy than just performing.
This issue certainly had a lot to its point. What with the performance and musical number at the end. The only odd part is how it's not as random as a lot of other Pinkie - ccentric pieces. Though it's not neccessarily a bad thing as, in my opinion, Pinkie often performs best when you least expect it.
Alright! This concludes my review of Micro - Series Issue #5. Definitely a different, yet somber, style to Pinkie issue. I still recommend it though. I give this issue a we deserved 9.5 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review? Leave it down below in the comments.
