[Season 2] Episode 8: The Mysterious Mare Do Well...for her own good

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we learn how a heros true weakness is their ego. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of it's author. The Mysterious Mare Do Well is the 8th episode of season 2 and 34th overall. Written by Merriwether Williams, the episode features Rainbow Dash as she experiences a major dose of reality in a heavy way. The story starts with Rainbow Dash on a leisurely flight through the clouds when trouble calls. Springing into action Dash answers the call and is rewarded with well deserved praise for it. As things progress a rival appears to challenge Dash's title. Can Dash defend her fame against this Mysterious Mare Do Well?

Okay. Never really thought I'd make this episode, but here we are. And I honestly agree with everypony else. This episode just sucked. Aside from the awesome superhero references( Spider - man, Darkwing Duck, The Spoiler, Batman) and random product,  this episode just felt like Hasbro trying to bury Rainbow Dash's character under a mountain of ego the size of Tirek powered - up.

Granted, I did agree with the episodes lesson, however. While it's okay to be proud of your accomplishments, you should never brag about them. That just leads to an inflated ego. One that Rainbow has too much of.

In the end, I feel like this episode did more harm than good. Especially considering Rainbows slow character development afterwards. Yet another character with endless potential being hampered terrible writers.

Alright! This concludes my review of The Mysterious Mare Do Well. Again, not the best episode if you ignore the celebrity references. I don't recommend this for Rainbow Dash fans.
