[Season 2] Episode 9: Sweet and Elite...like a Georgia peach

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we're mingling with the rich as we climb the social ladder of success. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Sweet and Elite is the 9th episode of season 2. As well as the 35th episode overall. Written by Megan McCarthy, the episode focuses on Rarity as well the gracioius Fancy Pants. While on a supply trip to Canterlot Rarity gets swept up in its social order. Which distracts her from finishing a present in time for Twilights birthday. Things only get worse when Jet Set and Upper Crust, local aristocrats, invite her to a party on the same day. Can Rarity balance her new role and keep her obligations to her friends?

Alright. To start off I'll say this. Rarilestia is an official ship and Hayseed is now on my favorite background ponies list. That aside, this episode was decently entertaining. It portrayed its lesson well and even managed to improve Raritys image as a character. Which is definitely a step above the high strung drama queen of season one.

I feel the lesson in this episode is to not be ashamed of where you come from. Be proud of your roots even if others don't agree with them. As Rarity said, no matter where  you are, you should never forget your home and friends.

This episode WAS nice and all but I can't help but be picky at how it reminds me of society today. Where those with high stauses turn their nose up at the hardworking people. Only to do a complete 180 when someone else has a different opinion. Kinda sad knowing that even in a kids show theres no real individuality in society.

Alright! This concludes my review of Sweet and Elite. An okay episode for Rarity. Though, I only recommend it as a leisure rather than a necessity. I give this episode an 8 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review? Leave it in the comments below.
