My Little Pony Micro - Series #8: Princess Celestia
HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we learn how the oldest person isn't always the most respected. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me knoe. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?
Micro Series #8 is the eighth issue of the IDW mini - series. A collab between writer Georgia Ball and artist Amy Mebberson, this issue features Celestia as she faces a tough decision regarding a trustest friend. After a minor incident during an important luncheon puts a teachers job in jeopardy. Celestia must do what she can to defend them. Or risk losing a friend. Can she pull it off? Or will the odds be against her?
Hmmm. I'm not gonna inherently say I hated this issue. In a way I like how it portrayed a lesson both in judgement and in respect. And I also liked how it reflected the attitude of todays society regarding the youth and their respect for their elders. But aside from that and a handful of hidden cultural references this issue just didn't keep me very focused on it's initial story.
In any case however, I enjoyed the lesson about how just because someone gets in their old age it doesn't mean they don't deserve our respect. With age can wisdom. And with that can coe life lessons younger generations can learn from and pass down in their old age.
Frankly, part of what makes this issue so dull is who it focuses on. But that's just my personal bias. That aside, it's kind of depressing how the issue highlights the youth today and their attitude to the older generation. A sad fact but nonetheless truthful.
Alright! This concludes my review of issue #8. Biased opinion aside, this issue is a real eye opener. I recommend this to anyone having trouble with self respect and the respect of their younger peers. I give this issue 7.5 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did.
