Cultures Contemplations: Chaotic Theoretics

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we take a look at Equestrias most colorful wild card. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. So, of all the most elusive characters in the show Discord has to be by far one of the most unknown. Since his first appearance in season 2 Discord has become synonymous as the shows second most funniest character. The first being of course Pinkie Pie. But for all that he's done or gone through, there are still so much we don't know about him. Today I thought I'd discuss my own thoughts on some of this and try to paint a clear picture of just who Discord is.

First off, let's get the obvious subject out of the way first. His species. Since the beginning of generation 4, and possibly before it, fans have been introduced to a plethora of unique and various creatures that live in or around Equestria. But so far, Discord has been billed as the only living draconequus in existance. And that's all. If so, then how was we conceived? Could there have been others like him in the past? There are some head cannons that say that explain possible theories like extinction but for the sake of time I'll let you find them yourselves.

Next up, Discords connection with the royal family. For long time now fans have often speculated how Discord could be so close to Luna and Celestia. Aside from their battle in the past, Discord has showed a certain deep bond with the two sisters. Primarily Celestia. Yet nothing beyond his first defeat is ever mentioned. No explanation of how they met, no fond memories, nothing. A popular theory among fans is that Discord could possibly be Star Swirl after a failed spell gone horribly wrong. Of course, like before, there's been no concrete evidence to back this up so again it still remains just a theory.

Lastly, Discords place in Equestria after his reformation. Now this is of course is obvious. Regarding characters that go through similar changes. Normally after such a thing a character is left out of place and confused. I don't think the same applies to Discord considering his chaotic nature. The elements of harmony represent order and Discord represents disorder. Yin and Yang. Good and Evil. That's how its's been and that's how it will stay. Regardless of how Discord views things.

In conclusion, I feel that Discord as a character has so much more than we initially see. Will we get more Discord related content? Maybe. Until then I hope to see more theories and speculations about the...creature...behind the mayhem.
