Top 5 Kamen Riders

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we're counting down 5 of my favorite far eastern heroes. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Also, this list will be in no particular order and should be taken at face value. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

Kamen Rider is the title of a live action television drama series from the far east. It's also part of what's known as Tokusatsu. A sub - culture dedicated to various popular franchises that often deal with sci - fi, fantasy, or horror. The name Kamen Rider translates to Masked Rider in english. Over the years there have been numerous and unique Riders that have been introduced through the years. Today I'm counting down my top 5 individual Riders. Note this list will feature both main and subriders. Please be sure to give your thoughts in the comments below. Enjoy:

1. Kamen Rider Skull-
Kamen Rider Skull, aka Sokichi Narumi, is a movie exclusive character from the series Kamen Rider W. For his appearance, Skull was modeled after the character Skull Man, the precursor to Kamen Rider also by Shotaro Ishinomori. On a personal note, Skull was also the inspiration for my own Rider, Kamen Rider Reaver.

2. Kamen Rider Kiva-
Kamen Rider Kiva, aka Wataru Kurenai, was the main hero of his respective series. As the son of a human, Kurenai Ootoya, and a fangire, Maya, Wataru lived a reclusive lifestyle due to a hygeine obsession. Taking after his father, Ootoya, he works at an atelier. Working on and repairing violins. Kamen Rider Kiva best aspect is his classic, gothic monster movie motif. Which is similar to his main power ups.

3. Kamen Rider Wizard-
Kamen Rider Wizard, aka Haruto Soma, is the main rider of his respective series. He was granted powers by the mysterious White Wizard after surviving a nearly cataclysmic demonic ritual. Using the special Wizard Driver and Wizard Rings Haruto fights against a race of creatures known as Phantoms. What appeals to me regarding the character is mix of dark and light sides to the character.

4. Kamen Rider Fourze-
Kamen Rider Fourze, aka Gentaro Kisaragi, is the main rider of his respective series. Fourze designed to be a space themed rider who's suit was modeled after the same kind used by professional astronauts. Save for his helmet that was designed to look like a cartoonish space shuttle. With the help of various power ups, or astroswitches, Gentaro fought against monstrous creatures known as Zodiarts.

5. Kamen Rider Arc-
Kamen Rider Arc, aka Takashi Sugimura, is a movie exclusive Rider from the series Kamen Rider Kiva. Having a slightly similar motif to the shows protagonist, Arc was the main villain of the film and leader of the Legendorga race. Most known for his ruthlessness, Arc was first defeated by the original Kiva before being sealed away in a coffin. Years later, the seal was broken by a death row inmate, Takashi, who was possessed by the riders dark essence in order to obtain a physical form.
