Top 5 Yu - Gi - Oh! Archetypes
HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, I'll be going over 5 of my favorite archetypes in the Yugioh card game. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. Also, this list will not feature any specific order. The order will be picked purely by random and not by any specific reason. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?
Yu - Gi - Oh! is a popular long running series that was first released as a manga in 1996. Before being adapted to anime 2 years later. Similarly after its manga release, acclaimed entertainment company, Konami, brought the duel monsters card game to life as a childrens card game. Over the years, several unique and powerful decks have been released for both the TCG( Trading Card Game) and OCG( Original Card Game) communities. Today I'll be counting down 5 of my personal favorites. Note that I'm not ficusing on any specific tier or engine but rather the game as a whole. With that said here is my Top 5 Yu - Gi - Oh! Archetypes:
1. Blue Eyes-
Since its first appearance in the game the Blue Eyes has grown in numbers. First came the release of the Shining Victories booster pack which gave us support like Priestess with Eyes of Blue and Azure Eyes Silver Dragon. The biggest reason I loved this deck was its ability to just spam the field with sheer power. A quality best suited for a deck played by the character of Seto Kaiba.
2. Noble Knights-
Noble Knights is an archetype based around the legends of King Arthur and his Knights of the Roundtable. Primarily a level / rank 4 deck, its main power relies on its ability to cycle out equip spells known as the Noble Arms. And while it has the potential to be a contender its biggest strength is also its biggest weakness.
3. Destiny HERO's-
Originally used by Edo Phoenix in the GX and Arc - V adaptions, this archetype was introduced as a rival to Yuki Judai's Elemental HERO's. The only differences were that D - HERO's were designed with more of an edgier look and didn't rely as much on fusions to win. Most of all the artwork reminds me a lot of Marvel heroes.
4. Qli-
Qli is a pendulum archetype that was based around the Jewish myth of the Qliphoth. A race of evil spurits similar to demon mythology. Primarily, the deck focused around spamming to neg the opponents field by abusing the decks pendulum scales.
5. Battlin Boxers-
Yet another level / rank 4 deck. This archetype mainly focuses on spamming out powerful xyz combos to combat your opponents. Its primary combo having to do, of course, with its boss card, Battlin Boxer Lead Yoke. Now, I don't initially claim this as a powerful deck considering its severly underpowered state. But that doesn't make the deck any less hard to put down. Especially for casual players.
Alright! This concludes this top5 list. Hope you guys enjoyed it. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review?
