My Little Pony Micro Series #2: Rainbow Dash

HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we're soaring over the rainbow as we seek out that shimmer of radiant joy in everyday. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?

My Little Pony Micro - Series #2 is a slice of life mini - adventure issue from writer Ryan K. Lindsay and artist Tony Fleecs featuring the sky blue speedster, Rainbow Dash. In it Rainbow Dash suffers a minor accident when a sudden storm of the drearies hampers her routine. Determined to solve the problem,  Rainbow promises to save the day with everything she's got. But will her 120% be enough to blow away this depressing downpour?

Okay, that summary was a mouthful and a half. A lot more than the comic earns. While it was great seeing Fleecs's bright and joyful artwork again I kinda feel like the comic was 20% less than awesome. More or less due to the central focus of the comic. I won't say Rainbow is the worst pony but her egotistical nature and her constant need for attention is usually what brings her specials down.

Generally speaking, anything focused on ego driven characters usually falls short of everyones expectations. Mainly due to their need to constantly stand in the spotlight everytime something negative or positive happens. And while Rainbow has grown to be less self - absorbed her attitude in most of this issue was less than pleasant. And to top it all off, the comic also suffers from quite a few errors in grammar. Add the two together and you see why Rainbow has such a small fanbase.

Altogether, this issue was way under the hype and less then exciting. The plot was dull given its implications about rainbows and happiness, sorry Lightning Bliss. And it really didn't do to well for Rainbows character. But hey. At least the cover arts were appealing.

Alright! This concludes my review of My Little Pony Micro - Series #2. Frankly, I'm not sure whether to recommend this or not guven its less than stellar quality. Read at your own leisure. I give this issue a 5 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed this review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't foget to follow us for more updates. Got a suggestion for a review?
