My Little Pony Micro Series #4: Fluttershy
HELLOOO and welcome to Cultures Compendium of Reviews! As always, I am Culture Shock. Your guide to all things cultural in Equestria and beyond. Today, we follow Equestrias favorite wallflower as she takes a bold step in creativity. Before we begin, let's review the rules. First off, all content within this blog is expressly the opinion of its author. It does not, nor should it ever, reflect the overall opinion of the fandom. Lastly, if any of you notice any mistakes, be it typos or otherwise, don't hesitate to let me know. With that said, let's begin. Shall we?
MLP Micro Series #4 is a slice of life/ inspirational piece by writer Barbara Randall Kesel and artist Tony Fleecs. And starring everyones favorite meek butterfly, Fluttershy. After finding out about a local art competition being held by Princess Celestia Fluttershy decides to seize the opportunity to showcase her talent in knitting. Donning an elaborate disguise, shy travels to the showcase in a nervous panic. Unfortunately, things don't bold well as Fluttershy finds herself exposed and cornered by a wave of negative criticism. Can she manage to overcome her nerves in the face of such odds?
I generally just enjoy this issue. It really speaks wisdom in its own inspiring way. And Fluttershy really personifies the average content creators and the anxieties they usually experience on a daily basis.
The most inspiring part, of course, is the lesson about how a good artist doesn't let a little negative criticism affect them. They learn from it and become a better artist. But most of all they don't let it change how they themselves feel.
Looking at this comic now I think I agree with youtube personality Silver Quill. Primarily his thoughts on the character Praiser Pan. To me Pan mainly embodies the worst aspects of a fandom. The type of people who usually like to think they're opinion supersedes everyone elses. Worst of all he reminds me of my own annoying habit of contradicting myself depending on the situation. A habit I really hate and hope to change in the near future.
Alright! This concludes my review of the MLP Micro Series #4. Bad characters aside I really feel this issue and think a lot more people could use the inspiration it portrays. I recommend to all my fellow content creators. I give this issue a 9.5 / 10. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to leave a like if you did. Also, don't forget to follow us for more updates.
